Unusual Ways You Can Sit On Trash

Today in our environmentally conscious society you can find a chair made out of almost every recyclable material there is: milk cartons, soda bottles, wine barrels, boat wood, used tires and so on, but most of these chairs feel and look ordinary. Now take a look at some of the more unique and unusual chairs I’ve introduced to you below. These are the type of chairs that standout in a room and scream, “Look what I’m made from!” What do you think? Are they inspiring? Would you buy a chair like this? Could you make one?

1. Milano Lounge Chair (LCM) - Mini DeluxeThis chair has inspired me to want to do more than just recycle. I actually want to ride a bike again. Don’t ask me to explain why, but when I look at this chair I just want to sit in it and go on a bike ride. The Milano Lounge Chair (LCM) - Mini Deluxe is unique, to say the least, and beautiful. Am I strange? I don’t thinks so. I simply appreciate art and the extraordinary creative mind behind this exotic chair.
What is so special about the chair? The design, the idea, and the parts used to make it. It doesn’t look like an ordinary chair at all. Instead, bright red bicycle rims make arms as well as provide additional lower support for the chair. Handle bars are flipped upside down and made into the chairs legs. In addition, a long silver horn accents the fact that this chair was once a happy bike. There is also a wide choice of fabrics or inner-tube upholstery to choose from to be placed on the chair. 2. Bath Chair

Next on my list is a chair that is not as exotic as the Milano Lounge Chair, but is still as creative. These aren’t the old fashioned safety chairs people buy so that they may safely sit in the bath or shower as they wash themselves. These Bath Chairs are actually made of bathtubs. Thanks to Trashformaciones, someone came up with an idea of reusing bathtubs by cutting them in half and transforming them into chairs. 4O of these chairs were decorated by artists and displayed as urban furniture in a park called Ribalta de Castellon in 2003.

I can’t find any of these chairs for sale, nor do I know if they are still displayed in the park, but I do know of a few parks where I live that would get a kick out of these chairs. I sure would like to know if the chairs are slippery to sit in.

3. Rag Chair

This Rag Chair is outrageously pricey. It isn’t very pretty and has a terrible name, but I must admit I am tempted to give it a try. Is it sturdy? Does it shape to your butt and back? Does it feel like your sitting on cotton? What type of clothing did Tejo Remy use to make this chair? Silk blouses? Blue Jeans? 100% cotton? Was it random picking? Can it be washed in the washing machine if something is spilled on the chair? Is this chair to be placed in a particular room like the living room or a bedroom? Is it suitable for children? Is it as comfortable as advertised? It looks like it, but I won’t believe it until I get the chance to sit on it. Considering the price of this creative chair I doubt I’ll ever get the chance to find out.

4. Rocky Chair

Want a rocking chair that makes you feel like you’re at the movies, but doesn’t require you to actually be at that expensive, germ breeding, crowd calling place? Search no more. I have found it. Guy Arzi has brought old cinema seats back to life and put them in motion. Now you can watch a movie in the comfort of a movie chair and rock to the theme songs. If you want a drink and popcorn, you can forget about using the arms of the chairs. There are no cup holders in these chairs, but a food tray or an end table should solve this problem, so sit back and relax. These brightly colored Rocky Chairs can go in your family room, but you may want to get more than one, because there is no squeezing two people into one chair.

5. Human Nest

If it looks like a nest, is framed by bamboo, covered in scrap material and is large enough for one person, what is it? The Human Nest is a chair you can rest in without having to worry about good posture or bad backs. It is the kind of chair that would look great in dorm rooms except most collage students couldn’t afford to buy it. It’s also the kind of chair that makes me think Emily Pilloton must be a fan of Big Bird. Don’t like the featured colors. Not a problem. This chair can be custom-produced in any color story.

6. Inkuku

Ever wonder what do with your with your plastic grocery bags? You don’t want to throw them away and fill up the landfills and you hate to use paper bags. Paper bags tear easy in the rain. They are aslo awkward to carry and if the items inside are too heavy the bag will tear. Plastic bags may not be environmentally friendly, but they sure make your busy life a lot more manageable. To feel less guilt, you save the bags as you’ve always been taught to save them and you reuse them as trash liners or whatever else a plastic bag is good for. Still, ones that are too dirty or have a small tear aren’t very useful and they go straight to the trash. So, they still end up in our landfills, just not as quickly. Let the guilt subside because Ryan Frank has come up with a permanent solution to solve the plastic grocery bag dilemma. What’s the solution? Inkuku and the African technique used to make it. Inkuku is a chair made entirely of plastic shopping bags. The bright red/orange chair was inspired by a South African chicken ornament also made of plastic using the same African technique.

So go ahead, place a chair like this in the center of a room and when ever anyone new comes to visit you, you will always have something to talk about. Why? Because you’re chair will be shouting, “ Look what I’m made of!” Friends and family members will pass by the chair for the first time, look at it for a moment and then say, “That’s a *&^%$! cool chair!” or “What the &^$$ is that?” Then they will ask you how comfortable it is, how much it cost you, and if is it okay if they sit on your chair. You will let them know it is okay and you will make hand motions that invite them to sit down. Then they will want to know who made it, are there any more available, and if so, how can they have one. A few of the creative ones will want to learn how to make a chair like this or do what they can to contribute to its existence.

SIN AND THE WORKPLACE: Some firms have sacked staff for sexual or drug abuse

Bangalore: Sex and syringes (read drug abuse) at the workplace have for quite a while been seen as issues in call centres and business process outsourcing (BPO) firms, where employees are mostly young and work at night.

Now, some companies are seen to be cracking down on these activities, as part of a clean-up operation, both to improve the image of the business, and in the fear that young drug users would be easily susceptible to data and information theft.
Several leading companies have sacked employees on grounds of sexual acts or drug abuse in the work premises in recent times. Some like Mphasis have gone to the extent of keeping conference rooms closed at night to prevent misuse of these facilities. Some are tying up with laboratories to do random tests on employees for drug use.
While most companies are reluctant officially to admit that they confront such problems in their own workplaces, one BPO official said on condition of anonymity: "Being part of a permissive community — in terms of age factor, financial independence, freedom and cover of the night — BPO boys and girls are quite susceptible and are easy prey to sex or drug abuses. Dozens of such cases are reported and action taken, but nei ther the employers nor employees are willing to talk about it, since no one wants to get a bad name."
Arun Sethuraj (name changed), who was working in a leading BPO company, was sacked two months ago along with two other colleagues for drug abuse. "Those two friends of mine were into drugs. But the company associated me with them and I too was sacked," he says.
Nobby Nazareth, president of employee verification company Evaluationz India, says that sexual acts at the work premises impact the 'personality' and brand of the company, creating a poor image of the company among clients and resistance in the minds of parents to having their children associate themselves with such companies (a huge issue today when talent is scarce). "As for drug abuse, it directly impacts the productivity of the employee and is also a big threat to BPOs dealing with sensitive data," he says, adding that the uncovering of several BPO frauds in recent months is building a sense of urgency to deal with such issues.
C Mahalingam, HR head of IT and outsourcing company Symphony Services, says these particular problems in call centres/BPOs are not as big as is often made out to be, but admits that companies need to do a lot more in terms of background checks of employees and conduct orientation programmes and have counsellors in place.

A Polish man who had his tongue removed has had a new one made using tissue taken from his buttocks.
Jarislav Ernst, 23, from Gliwice, now has a functioning tongue made from his backside after surgery at the Oncology Clinic in Gliwice's General Hospital.
Head doctor Stanislaw Poltorek said: "The new tongue is alive and well-supplied with blood, and the patient is doing well."
Mr Ernst's tongue was removed after it was diagnosed with cancer.

SONY'S DISK drive division is working hard to introduce Blue-Ray.

It merged with NEC in April and will try to take as much market as possible. But despite the fact that some Blu-Ray consu mer recorders are out and about, there won't be any com puter drives on the shelves before August.

While Sony can't say much about the pricing of such drives, it can say one thing: they will be expensive. Its Blu-ray drives will be able to read and write DVDs, CDs as well as Blu-Ray disks.

In fact the disks are already available and they should cost between Rs 500 and Rs 750 for a single-layer 25GB disk and much more for 50GB dual-layer platter.

Sony brands its upcoming drive the BRU 100 A and it comes in rather interesting black and white design. Here's a picture of a picture of it.

Construction Features

Frame:-

The timbers are joined with stainless-steel fittings, which have been flame-bronzed and anodized, for a rustic look. All connecting bolts (also stainless steel) point in the same direction.

Foundation:-
The hillside is in an earthquake zone, so the foundation sits on concrete piers and uses tiebacks and steel reinforcements several times stronger than the minimums set by the building code. Massive retaining walls, several feet thick in places, created a drainage problem, solved by collecting runoff in buried pipes that feed into the estuary.

Electronics:-
Miles of communication cable, largely fiber optic, run throughout the house, linking computer servers powered by the Windows NT operating system. In each room, touch-sensitive pads control lighting, music, and climate. Visitors will wear small electronic pins, which will let the computers know who and where they are. Lights and other settings will adjust automatically. Floors throughout the house (and the driveway) are heated.
Building officials from a dozen local municipalities toured Bill and
Melinda Gates' house last month, below are the comments from one of
the officials:(Old story)

* Currently 300 workers including 104 electricians.

* No visible electrical outlets anywhere. Gates does not like
"clutter".

* Construction likely complete in September 1997, 3 months behind
owner's schedule.

* 112 steps from the main floor to the main entry (or take the
elevator).

* Wood columns from main floor to roof in entry area are over 70 feet
long.

* Theme throughout main floor is high tech. lodge. Primary structure
is all exposed similar to large logs in a lodge except the logs are
PERFECTLY finished.

* All timbers used inside and out are finished the same - 3 inches
have been removed from the exterior of the wood and then sanded
to a satin finish.

* All timbers are nearly perfect in that there are almost no knots.

* All connectors are structural grade stainless steel.

* All bolts throughout the house are stainless steel and oriented the
same direction.

* All woodwork is flawless. Much of the woodwork is of various rare
species from all over the world - imported especially for the
Gates.

* Some of the interior passage doors weigh over 800 lbs, but are
balanced for easy use.

dining room, a reception hall, conference facilities, offices, an exercise room, outdoor
sports courts, and of course loads of technology

Issue 4 :

In some images, a huge light source can be seen reflected in the astronaut's visors. This
has to be a very bright, nearby source. There is no possibility of external light source
in moon.

ISSUE 5 -

How could NASA take TV images of the LM ascending on Apollo 15, 16, and 17 if
there was no one on the Lunar surface to man the camera?

ISSUE 6 -

There can't be any pictures taken on the Moon because the film would melt in
the 250° temperatures. Any film exposed to 250° would indeed melt at that temperature.

Issue-7 :

The LM engine was very powerful. How come it did not leave a crater below the
spacecraft? Why didn't it kick up any dust when it landed?issue 8: The footprints left by the astronauts are proof that the Moon landings are fake.

This one is also essentially a two pronged argument. First, the Fox show charged that the
LM engine was so powerful that the upper layer of dust should have been blown away around
the LM, so there should not be any footprints. Others have charged that the footprints
should not be there since in the absence of water as a bonding agent, they should not
maintain coherent shapes and sharp outlines.
